When the directory checker created a directory for test purposes. It does remove it afterward.
BUT if the non-existing directory was on multiple level : only the last level is removed : should be all.

SAMPLE:
On my HDD I have: /tmp (empty)
I test /tmp/my/dir/of/sample
I now have /tmp/my/dir/of
I should have /tmp
