      How to reproduce

Lucie's photo changes well on her profile page but not in the thumbnail.
      Even after refreshing the page

It seems that it was a cache issue, related to the "Expires" header set in our Apache default configurations for performance reasons

Very strange bug, not always reproducable.
Not necessary to empty cache, but to force a refresh
We spent a few hours to try to understand the behaviour, without success right now

Indeed if I empty the caches of the browser or the cache of the site the image changes.
On the other hand, it is necessary to empty the cache each time . This is not a solution?

maybe a cache issue. Can you try again, and then go to admin and remove all cache (sites cache + caches from the cache tool) ; and display the page again
