      This action is not possible, you are directly redirected to the home page of the catalog site.
      Which is a shame, is it possible to have a cross or something else to close the preference page

          The preference page is cross site.
          The only way to do what you say would be to open the preference page in another browser tab, when in a project site (and not when from the catalog site itself)
